Let’s talk about framing pictures

Let’s talk about framing pictures. When I told people I was going to start a picture frame business after graduating college, they pretty much all said the same thing – “What? You’re going to waste your degree? Why picture framing?” First of all, half of everybody I graduated with didn’t go into what they majored in. Plus, picture framing was a business. And why not picture framing? It’s fun, exhilarating, thought provoking, rewarding and beautiful – if done right.
I have the same passion for it today as I did 30 years ago. What’s changed is that there are a thousand times more choices in materials and many more people have experienced the joy of having their personal item framed and taking home a work of art. The world has become more homogenized. Track houses. Mass produced everything. Custom picture framing is still custom.
There is virtually an unlimited amount of things that get framed – from the popular poster to the one-of-a-kind old document. And thousands of different ways of framing something because everybody’s house and taste is different.
That’s what makes it fun and rewarding – when you find just the perfect combination, the customer takes it home, and it looks perfect. I can’t think of anything that’s as custom.
Your house can have an ongoing “collection” of things hanging on the wall.
The collection grows as your house changes, your family changes and your taste changes.
